Soccer Game Preview: Shafter vs. Chavez

The Shafter Generals will venture away from home to take on the Chavez Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Chavez will have to contend with a Shafter team hungry for a win, something the squad hasn't seen since December 13. Shafter lost 8-1 to Wasco on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 923rd, while the Tigers are ranked 415th).

Meanwhile, Chavez's game on Thursday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Kennedy by a score of 2-1.

Shafter's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-3. As for Chavez, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-2.

Shafter might still be hurting after the 5-1 loss they got from Chavez in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Shafter was down 4-0.
