Basketball Game Preview: Antonito Trojans vs. Moffat Cowboys

Antonito hasn't had much luck against Moffat recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Antonito Trojans will face off against the Moffat Cowboys at 11:00 a.m. Antonito will be strutting in after a win while Moffat will be coming in after a defeat.

Antonito is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Lake City Community with a sharp 44-23 victory on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Antonito's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Destanaya Quintana, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. Quintana is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kim Sisneros, who posted eight points and six boards.

Antonito smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Moffat played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 49-27 to Sangre de Cristo. The Cowboys have struggled against the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Antonito will have to keep a close watch on Kandra Pollard and Shauna Pollard, a pair of players who had a big impact on Moffat's prior game. Kandra scored ten points and seven steals, while Shauna put up ten points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Moffat's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Antonito, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Antonito has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 21.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Moffat struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
