Open Bible Christian barely beat Brunswick Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory last Friday. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.
Campbell Avant made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Open Bible Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-6 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zeke Mindziak, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Open Bible Christian is 3-1 when Mindziak posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Open Bible Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
