Volleyball Recap: Pen Argyl Comes Up Short

Pen Argyl was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jim Thorpe Olympians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Olympians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.

Pen Argyl started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-21, 25-15, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Pen Argyl saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emily McHale had 22 digs. McHale has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Maura Malaska went supernova For Jim Thorpe., getting 14 digs, five aces, and one block.

Pen Argyl's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Jim Thorpe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11.

Pen Argyl has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Northwestern Lehigh on the 10th. Jim Thorpe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
