The Solon Comets will face off against the Hudson Explorers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Solon is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Things were looking good for Solon after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perry.

Grace Gerhard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Solon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colleen Krzywicki, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hudson). They blew past Cuyahoga Falls 16-5 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Explorers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Bailey Deutsch was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Shawna Baylor was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Hudson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hudson's record is now 2-11. As for Solon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Solon skirted past Hudson 8-7 when the teams last played on April 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
