Baseball Recap: Center Grove Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Center Grove won against Castle on Saturday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Trojans beat the Westfield Shamrocks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Eric McAtee looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gannon Grant, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Drake McClurg, who went 2-for-5 with two runs.

Center Grove's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. As for Westfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-4.

Center Grove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 win against Carmel on the 1st. As for Westfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-4 loss against Noblesville on the 1st.
