Softball Game Preview: Wharton Wildcats vs. Sunlake Seahawks

The Wharton Wildcats will challenge the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Wharton fell victim to Durant and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars.

Wharton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliza Connell, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Sunlake also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Springstead by a score of 4-1. That's two games in a row now that the Seahawks have lost by exactly three runs.

Sunlake also got a good showing from Sydney Walker, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Walker has allowed since back in February.

Wharton now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Sunlake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Both Wharton and Sunlake just can't seem to miss. The Wildcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Sunlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits.
