Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Tigers vs. Wilson Mules

The Lincoln Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Wilson Mules at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lincoln challenged Franklin on Wednesday. The Tigers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-10.

Mel Martinez put in work no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Monica Vences and Monica Amaya did some serious damage despite the final result: Vences went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Amaya got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Gladys Barajas, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Wilson came up short against Marshall on Monday and fell 14-9. The Mules have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lincoln now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Lincoln suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Wilson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
