Football Recap: Pleasant Grove Comes Up Short

Pleasant Grove and Carthage squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Pleasant Grove had to settle for second. The matchup between the Hawks and the Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Hawks falling 34-20. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.

Kj Edwards was his usual excellent self, rushing for 197 yards and three scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry for Carthage. Edwards' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 185 rushing yards.

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Carthage, the win keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

Pleasant Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carthage, they will venture away from home to face off against Athens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least 31 points in their last 11 games.
