Baseball Recap: Mainland Takes a Loss

If Mainland was riding high fresh off their 24-2 takedown of Wekiva on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mainland Buccaneers fell just short of the Atlantic Sharks by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. The Buccaneers have struggled against the Sharks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Ryan Allen stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Amare Campbell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mainland's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Atlantic, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mainland will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Orlando Christian Prep at 5:30 p.m. on March 25th. As for Atlantic, they will square off against University at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Atlantic is facing University at the right time seeing as University is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
