Basketball Recap: Wayzata Find Success

Wayzata won the last time they faced White Bear Lake and things went their way on Friday too. The Wayzata Trojans slipped by the White Bear Lake Bears 56-55. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Bears are ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wayzata is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for White Bear Lake, they moved to 9-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Wayzata won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Prior Lake at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Wayzata knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Prior Lake likes a good challenge. As for White Bear Lake, they and Brainerd will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Brainerd will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something White Bear Lake surely won't give up without a fight.
