Softball Recap: Rolesville's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Rolesville came out on top against Millbrook on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Rams were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Wildcats two weeks ago, they had to take a 18-13 loss.

Kaitlyn Curphey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Abbie DeCiantis and Gianna D'Antonio did most of the damage at the plate: DeCiantis went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while D'Antonio went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI DeCiantis has posted since back in March. Katie King also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Rolesville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Rolesville's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16. As for Millbrook, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Looking ahead, Rolesville will take on Wakefield at 4:05 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. Millbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
