Softball Recap: Panguitch Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Panguitch entered their tilt with Monticello on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Buckaroo an 11-0 shutout. While the Bobcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Katie Hatch was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Hailey Bangerter was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Kadee Harland was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Panguitch hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monticello struck out eight times.

Panguitch's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Panguitch will head out to face off against Milford at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monticello will be paying especially close attention to the Bobcats' contest: after the Bobcats faces off against the Tigers, they'll take on Monticello again at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
