Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Lynx vs. Bishop Heelan Catholic Crusaders

The Lincoln Lynx will challenge the Bishop Heelan Catholic Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Lincoln will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Sioux City East, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Lincoln managed a 69-64 victory over Sioux City East on Tuesday.

Lincoln relied on the efforts of Hutson Rau, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Addie Naughton, who shot 4-for-4 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Those 20 points gave Naughton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Sandbothe, who posted eight points and three blocks.

Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Bishop Heelan Catholic against Jefferson on Tuesday as the squad secured a 73-12 win. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Lincoln's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Lincoln was taken down by Bishop Heelan Catholic 73-38 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lincoln was down 40-20.
