Recap: Overhills Jaguars vs. Harnett Central Trojans
The Overhills Jaguars won against the Harnett Central Trojans last Tuesday with 59 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. Overhills blew past Harnett Central 59-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Overhills has posted since December 5, 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Deshaun Barton, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ej Stokes, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Harnett Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kemaury Haywood, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals. Malachi Elliott was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Overhills pushed their record up to 7-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Harnett Central, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Overhills and Pine Forest will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Pine Forest is ranked 327th, while Overhills is ranked 323rd). As for Harnett Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Triton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
