Soccer Game Preview: Smith County vs. East Robertson

The Smith County Owls will challenge the East Robertson Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Smith County has ten straight wins, East Robertson has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

While Smith County's victory against Cannon County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Owls never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Thursday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Smith County's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Cannon County are ranked 233rd).

Smith County's one-goal win came courtesy of Addie Cripps, who's now up to ten this season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for East Robertson's offense. They came up short against Merrol Hyde Magnet on Monday, falling 9-0. That's two games in a row now that East Robertson have lost by exactly nine goals.

Smith County's victory bumped their record up to 13-1-1. As for East Robertson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Smith County might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from East Robertson in their previous meeting back in October of 2017. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Owls were down 3-0.
