Basketball Game Preview: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Longmont Trojans

The Thompson Valley Eagles and the Longmont Trojans will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Thompson Valley's defense has only allowed 22.9 points per game this season, so Longmont's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Thompson Valley saw some tournament action on Friday. They blew past Evergreen 43-21. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season.

Mekayla Macias continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 22 points. Those 22 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Jarosik, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Longmont came up short against Bear Creek on Friday and fell 45-32. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Longmont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Thompson Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Thompson Valley against Longmont in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, as the squad secured a 69-34 victory. In that contest, Thompson Valley amassed a halftime lead of 37-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
