Basketball Recap: Sutton Falls to Freeman in First Game of Season

Sutton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 57-28 loss at the hands of the Freeman Falcons. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Sutton lost on Saturday, don't look at Payton Reed. Despite the final result, he posted nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Freeman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Buss, who had ten points along with six boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Buss, who earned 12 points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Freeman has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Sutton has already played their next contest, an 80-44 win against H&H on the 9th. As for Freeman, they will head out to square off against Fillmore Central on Friday.
