Baseball Recap: Mascoma Royals vs. Kearsarge Cougars
Mascoma had lost six straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-9 to make it seven. They lost 16-0 to the Kearsarge Cougars. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
As for Kearsarge, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Kearsarge's part, Isaac Knox made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Knox has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

Looking ahead, Mascoma will host Hopkinton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kearsarge, they will head out on the road to take on Derryfield at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
