Recap: Rio Grande City Rattlers vs. Palmview Lobos
The Rio Grande City Rattlers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 40-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palmview. While losing is never fun, Rio Grande City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while Palmview is ranked 187th).
Palmview was led to victory by Hailey Cantu and Mia Rojas. Cantu scored 15 points, while Rojas scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Rojas' 16th in a row with at least ten points. Nicole Flores was another key contributor, scoring three points along with three steals.
Rio Grande City's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Palmview, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-5.
Rio Grande City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Martin at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. Martin will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Palmview will finish 2023 at home by hosting Nixon at 1:30 p.m. on December 29th. Nixon will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
