Baseball Game Preview: Burns Bulldogs vs. Cherryville Ironmen

Burns has won five straight games at home, while Cherryville has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Ironmen at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Burns 1.7, Cherryville 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Burns' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Shelby with a sharp 18-0 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Cherryville's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 9-1 to Legion Collegiate Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Ironmen have suffered since May 3, 2024.

Cherryville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Talon Dalton, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Burns is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cherryville, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.
