Baseball Recap: Rappahannock County vs. Luray Bulldogs
Rappahannock County scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against the Luray Bulldogs as Rappahannock County made off with a 9-3 victory. The win was just what Rappahannock County needed coming off of a 10-1 defeat in their prior game.
Hunter Compton was excellent, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Loving, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
On Luray's side, Conner Hilliard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run.
Even though they lost, Luray didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rappahannock County only tossed four.
Rappahannock County's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Luray, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rappahannock County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Page County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Luray, they will head out on the road to challenge Mountain View at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Luray is facing Mountain View at the right time seeing as Mountain View is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
