Preview: Murphy Panthers vs. LeFlore Rattlers
The Murphy Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the LeFlore Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Murphy waltzed into their matchup Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Mobile Christian by a score of 62-54. Given Murphy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Mobile Christian is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Murphy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cordairus Dixon, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Mangram, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, LeFlore scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Citronelle with a sharp 64-42 win. That looming 64-42 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for LeFlore yet this season.
Murphy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for LeFlore, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4-1.
Murphy was able to grind out a solid victory over LeFlore in their previous meeting on Friday, winning 62-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Murphy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
