Softball Game Preview: Sandwich Blue Knights vs. Cohasset Skippers

The Sandwich Blue Knights will square off against the Cohasset Skippers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Sandwich is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Sandwich made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Rockland, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Blue Knights never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Thursday. While the Blue Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The result came thanks to Sophie Farrington's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lane Kraihanzel, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Meanwhile, Cohasset entered their tilt with Framingham on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Flyers.

Sandwich's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Cohasset, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
