Basketball Recap: Rocco Howes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Legacy

On Tuesday, the Holy Family Tigers were able to grind out a solid win over the Legacy Lightning, taking the game 58-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Holy Family's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rocco Howes led the charge by dropping a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Howes is becoming a predictor of Holy Family's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Schott, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Legacy lost, don't look at Ari Harpring. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-16 to rack up 20 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Matthew Allshouse, who had 11 points.

Holy Family's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for Legacy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Looking ahead, Holy Family will take on Mead at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season. As for Legacy, they will head out to take on Boulder at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Boulder will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Legacy surely won't give up without a fight.
