Basketball Recap: Mapleton Comes Up Short

Mapleton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the North Clackamas Christian Saints, falling 76-39. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Saints are ranked seventh).

When it comes to explaining why Mapleton lost, don't look at Lucie Burruss. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-14 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds. Burruss has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Arista Bernhardt, who posted eight points.

Mapleton's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for North Clackamas Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Mapleton has already played their next matchup, a 48-43 victory against Pilot Rock on the 18th. As for North Clackamas Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-42 win against Powers on the 16th.
