Baseball Recap: Smiths Station Comes Up Short

Smiths Station was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Calera Eagles. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2017.

Smiths Station's defeat dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Calera, they moved to 10-15 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Smiths Station wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-3 loss against Stevenson on the 28th. As for Calera, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-2 win against Leeds on the 29th.
