Softball Recap: Milford Has No Trouble Against Watseka

Milford had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Watseka on Monday. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 13-5 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-6 back in March.

Kami Muehling made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Muehling was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Addison Lucht was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Joie Girdler, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Milford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Watseka, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milford will host Iroquois West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Watseka, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Momence at 4:30 p.m.
