Baseball Recap: Dove Creek Gets the Win

Dove Creek won the last time they faced Nucla and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulldogs walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Mustangs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Sheldon Gardner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cael Beanland was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Trevan Ivie also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Dove Creek's record is now 2-5. As for Nucla, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Dove Creek will challenge rival Sargent at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Nucla is set to square off against their familiar foe Antonito at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
