Basketball Recap: Shelley Takes a Loss

Shelley lost against Skyline two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Shelley Russets fell 61-49 to the Skyline Grizzlies.

It was another big night for Shay Shippen, who went 9 of 17 to rack up 23 points along with five assists and five boards for Skyline. Shippen's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Merzlock, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Shelley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Skyline, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Shelley has already played their next match, a 63-52 victory against Idaho Falls on the 11th. As for Skyline, they will face off against Blackfoot at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Blackfoot will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Skyline surely won't give up without a fight.
