Basketball Recap: Burke County's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

After flying high against East Jackson on Saturday, Burke County came back down to earth. The Bears fell just short of the Lakeside Panthers by a score of 83-80 on Tuesday. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Burke County still got an impressive performance from La'Quinton Morgan, who went 9-for-15 on his way to 26 points. De'Quavian Lovette was another key player, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Lakeside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Walker, who shot 41% from the field to rack up 22 points and eight assists. The game was Walker's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Bower, who went 7-for-12 en route to 23 points and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Burke County fell to 2-1. As for Lakeside, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7.

Burke County has already played their next matchup, a 94-85 loss against South Effingham on the 12th. As for Lakeside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 98-57 defeat against Fox Creek on the 11th.
