Baseball Recap: Priory Comes Up Short

Priory extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-6 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the South San Francisco Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-0 defeat on Tuesday.

As for South San Francisco, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for South San Francisco, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For South San Francisco's part, Emilio Oseguera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Oseguera has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Keith, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Josh Nabung, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Priory will challenge Mission at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.14 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South San Francisco, they will face off against Summit Shasta at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Black Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
