Baseball Recap: Fort Wayne Canterbury Extends Winning Streak to Three

It's playoff time, and Fort Wayne Canterbury had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Triton Trojans on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Cavaliers as they're now sitting on three straight.

JP Rohwer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reed Hayes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Fort Wayne Canterbury: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Hayes, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fort Wayne Canterbury lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Fort Wayne Canterbury's record now sits at 13-8. As for Triton, they moved to 20-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Fort Wayne Canterbury will challenge Clinton Prairie on Saturday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gophers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. Triton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
