Norman had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Edmond Memorial Bulldogs 62-59. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Edmond Memorial lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Janiyah Williams, who went 8-for-19 on her way to 24 points and six rebounds. Her evening made it 21 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Avery Hjelmstad was another key player, putting up 18 points and seven boards.

Norman's win bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Edmond Memorial, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 19 games and leaves them with a 23-4 record.

Coming up, Norman will square off against Union at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Norman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Union likes a good challenge. As for Edmond Memorial, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-35 victory against Choctaw on the 7th.
