Basketball Recap: Garner Trojans vs. West Johnston Wildcats
Garner took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 54-41 win over the West Johnston Wildcats. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Leading Garner to victory were Aniyah Williams and Sumayah Jones. Williams went 10 for 21 en route to 29 points plus seven rebounds and five steals, while Jones almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals.
Garner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-31 defeat against Orange on the 18th. As for West Johnston, they will head out to challenge Gray's Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
