Preview: Chapman Panthers vs. Landrum Cardinals
The Chapman Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Landrum Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Chapman sitting on four straight victories and Landrum on seven.
Last Tuesday, Chapman beat Blue Ridge 59-51. The win was all the more spectacular given Chapman's disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Blue Ridge is ranked 28th).
Chapman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Annastyn Smith led the charge by scoring 27 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Twitty, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Landrum walked away with it. They had just enough and edged the Wildcats out 54-52.
Chapman's record is now 15-7. As for Landrum, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Chapman came up short against Landrum in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 55-50. Thankfully for Chapman, Ali Allison (who scored 22 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
