Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Beats Monroe County for Their Third Straight Win

Hillcrest had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Monroe County Tigers by a score of 52-44. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but the Jaguars were the better team in the second half.

Hillcrest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayla Williams out in front who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Sky?La Mixon, who earned 12 points.

Hillcrest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Monroe County, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Hillcrest Jaguars duke it out with the T.R. Miller Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. T.R. Miller will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Hillcrest surely won't give up without a fight. As for Monroe County, they will be playing at home against Flomaton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Monroe County is facing Flomaton at the right time seeing as Flomaton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
