AA Region VI recap Oct. 3, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to North Charleston, who took down 196th ranked Garrett Academy Tech, 14-6.

Ridgeland/Hardeeville was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in AA Region VI. The Jaguars defeated Academic Magnet 42-21 earlier in the week.

Burke's dynamic duo of Craig Williams and Smith Devon proved tough for Woodland to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Williams threw for 115 yards and one touchdown and Devon had 105 yards receiving. Raekwon Jones helped Burke's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.

Marquis Griffin was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 195 yards on 18 carries as Ridgeland/Hardeeville fell to the Wolverines. Deo'vonte Doe also contributed to the rushing game with 121 yards on the ground.

Burke's Stephon Taylor and Devon have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Taylor has thrown for 491 yards this season, while Devon has 12 catches for 236 yards. Doe from Blake Raley's team leads the league in rushing with 813 yards.

A big matchup in AA Region VI this week will be when Woodland takes on Battery Creek. Reed Charpia's team is in first place, while the Dolphins are in sixth place.

The Wolverines extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Earl Brown Jr.'s team, 55-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for Woodland.
