Softball Recap: Bear Lake Gets the Win

Bear Lake hadn't done well against Preston recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Bears came out on top against the Indians by a score of 11-6. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 19-13 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2022.

Brooklynn Crockett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kambria Romrell, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Abby Humpherys, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Bear Lake and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Preston, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bear Lake will square off against Teton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Timberwolves have averaged an impressive 12.6 runs per game this season. As for Preston, they will host American Falls at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians are facing the Beavers at the right time seeing as the Beavers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
