Pittsburg hasn't had much luck against De La Salle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates will challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Pittsburg sitting on eight straight victories and De La Salle on 11.
Pittsburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Liberty as they made off with a 42-18 win. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Lions are ranked 88th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kenneth Ward and Siotame Finau were among the main playmakers for Pittsburg as the former gained 112 total yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 60 yards and a pair of scores. Those 60 rushing yards gave Finau a new career-high.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pittsburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Pittsburg's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Isaiah Harrison with two sacks.
Meanwhile, De La Salle got themselves on the board against San Ramon Valley on Friday, but San Ramon Valley never followed suit. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-0 victory over the Wolves. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by 21 points or more this season.
Pittsburg better keep an eye on Jaden Jefferson. He was instrumental in De La Salle's win, rushing for 108 yards and three TDs on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Duece Jones-Drew, who rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.
Pittsburg's record now sits at 10-1. As for De La Salle, their record is now 11-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Pittsburg has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 298.5 passing yards per game. It's a different story for De La Salle, though, as they've been averaging only 106.1 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Pittsburg couldn't quite finish off De La Salle when the teams last played back in November of 2024 and fell 10-7. Thankfully for the Pirates, Dominic Kelley (who rushed for 173 yards and one score while picking up 9.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
