Basketball Game Preview: St. Stephens Indians vs. East Burke Cavaliers

The St. Stephens Indians will face off against the East Burke Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

St. Stephens is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight games dating back to last season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Draughn and fell 58-29. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.

Meanwhile, East Burke unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 63-50 to Alexander Central on Tuesday. The Cavaliers were down 53-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

St. Stephens will have to contain Belle Gwyn as she made an impact in East Burke's last game. She shot 45% from the field on her way to 15 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Brittain, who posted 14 points and three steals.

St. Stephens took a serious blow against East Burke in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 67-19. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Indians were down 38-10.
