Buchanan is 8-1 against Dowagiac since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Buchanan Bucks will challenge the Dowagiac Chieftains at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Buchanan beats Dowagiac with 47 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Buchanan managed a 47-41 victory over Bridgman on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bucks.

Buchanan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Carson, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. Carson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justyce Cashier, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 11 points and six steals.

Meanwhile, Dowagiac strolled past Watervliet with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 44-26.

Dowagiac's record now sits at 3-4. As for Buchanan, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Buchanan was able to grind out a solid win over Dowagiac in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 53-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buchanan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
