Softball Game Preview: Monrovia Wildcats vs. South Pasadena Tigers

The Monrovia Wildcats will head out to face off against the South Pasadena Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Monrovia will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Monrovia will bounce into Friday's match after beating Temple City, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wildcats blew past the Rams 23-11 on Friday.

Monrovia got a massive performance out of Mikalah Ortega, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with five runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Ortega a new career-high. Aubrey Myers was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

Monrovia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, South Pasadena posted their closest victory since April 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past San Marino 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Cassidy Lee, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Brooke Zeisler also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Monrovia's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12-1. As for South Pasadena, their record now sits at 10-6.

Monrovia couldn't quite get it done against South Pasadena when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 5-2. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
