Emerson proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Independence Knights 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mavericks have posted since February 15th.

Emerson is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Independence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emerson will face off against Lebanon Trail at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trail Blazers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Mavericks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Independence, they will challenge Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
