Recap: Highland Rams vs. Blackfoot Broncos
The Highland Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. The match between Highland and Blackfoot wasn't particularly close, with Highland falling 63-46. While losing is never fun, Highland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Blackfoot is ranked 25th).
When it comes to explaining why Highland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rian Pokibro. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Pokibro posted two or more blocks. Baili Briscoe was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Blackfoot's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Tanner, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Christiansen, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Highland has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Blackfoot, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland will challenge Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Blackfoot, they will head out on the road to square off against Bonneville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
