Softball Game Preview: Arlington Eagles vs. Lake Stevens Vikings

The Arlington Eagles will challenge the Lake Stevens Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Arlington's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Lake Stevens has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Arlington is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Cascade on Wednesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins.

Camryn Zodrow was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases. Morgan Miller also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Lake Stevens hadn't done well against Jackson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Timberwolves 3-1.

Mara Sivley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lake Stevens let Reese Breckenridge and McKenna Richer run wild. Breckenridge earned one run and four stolen bases, while Richer went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Richer has posted since back in March of 2024.

Lake Stevens' win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Arlington, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Arlington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Stevens struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
