Mar Vista has gone 9-1 against Southwest SD recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mariners will host the Raiders at 3:30 p.m. Southwest SD took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mar Vista, who comes in off a win.
Mar Vista barely beat Castle Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mariners' pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans an 18-0 shutout on Monday. The Mariners have beaten the Trojans the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.

Anthony Sanchez

03/22/25 vs Hoover | 3 |
Anthony Sanchez made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mar Vista let Daniel Snow and Jayden Tillman run wild. Snow got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Tillman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That's the most runs Snow has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aden Duran, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Mar Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Southwest SD and Chula Vista meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Raiders lost 7-1 to the Spartans. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.
Southwest SD saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Bejarano, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Southwest SD moved to 13-11-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Mar Vista, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mar Vista has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southwest SD struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
