The Manteca Buffaloes will head out on the road to challenge the East Union Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Manteca's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so East Union's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Manteca lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tokay, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Buffaloes were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday. The Buffaloes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Nicholas Yee looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brody Carabello and Preston Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Carabello went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Smith went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Smith a new career-high. Edward Anthony was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Manteca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tokay only managed ten hits.
Meanwhile, East Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to Oakdale.
Joe Alvarez put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of East Union's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Alvarez was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Alvarez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Heath, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. East Union is 3-1 when Heath posts two or more stolen bases, but 10-11 otherwise. Another was Brayden Camara, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
East Union's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Manteca, their record now sits at 18-6.
Manteca couldn't quite finish off East Union in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Buffaloes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
