Baseball Game Preview: South Choctaw Academy Rebels vs. Lakeside School Chiefs

The South Choctaw Academy Rebels will be taking part in a tournament against the Lakeside School Chiefs at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

If South Choctaw Academy beats Lakeside School with 13 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. South Choctaw Academy beat Escambia Academy last Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rebels.

JT Railey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Till Cox, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Johnson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lakeside School never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Jackson Academy. Considering the Chiefs have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Like South Choctaw Academy, Lakeside School also got a great game from a two-way player: Carson Britton. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Britton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Lakeside School got a big performance out of Brayden Vachon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Tyler Mark Bullock, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Lakeside School has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. South Choctaw Academy's record now sits at 2-0.
