Football Recap: Smyer Comes Up Short

Smyer extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 1-9. They took a blow against the Tahoka Bulldogs, falling 48-12. If the Bobcats were looking for revenge after losing 48-14 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Smyer lost, don't look at Max Benevedes. Despite the final result, he rushed for 45 yards and one score, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.

As for Tahoka, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 22 points or more this season.

Tahoka was led to victory by Remington Stone and Uzziah Martinez. Stone rushed for 69 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, while Martinez rushed for 125 yards on only 14 carries. Stone also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Smyer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tahoka, they will be playing at home against Eldorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.3 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
